Saperavi is a dark-skinned, pink-fleshed grape variety originally from the Georgian Republic. Being the Georgian word for “dye”, saperavi is a particularly apt name for this variety that gives very dark coloured wines.
In the glass: Inky red purple.
On the nose: Concentrated dark berry fruit, plum, coconut and spice.
On the palate: A rich and flavoursome wine with a dark core of fruit and concentrated coconutty oak. Full-bodied with ripe, powerful tannins, fine acidity and well-judged oak.
