Having started in Mornington Peninsula as a hobby farm in the late 70s, Stonier Wines has endured and evolved into one of Australia’s greatest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir producers. Experience their sensational winemaking skills today with this superb mixed 3-pack.
The Stonier Chardonnay 2018 is elegantly restrained with an attractive mix of melon, peach, and creamy cashew. It was fermented in a mix of French oak barriques and puncheons for 10 months, with a small percentage also matured in tank. Several batches from Stonier’s coolest vineyards underwent acid-softening malo-lactic fermentation with the remaining portion withheld to preserve the pure regional Chardonnay characters.
After 12-22 days on skins, the Stonier Pinot Noir 2018 was pressed to a mix of fine grain French oak puncheons and barriques for malolactic fermentation and maturation. A portion of the final blend was also retained in stainless steel tanks (30%) to promote the vibrant fruit profile. It delivers strawberry fruit and charry oak, with silky tannins and excellent structure.
The 2017 vintage is the third single release of the Stonier Jimjoca Vineyard Pinot Noir. The wine is a blend of fruit from two north facing Pinot Noir blocks that was matured in a mix of puncheons (25%) and barriques (75%) with 20% new and the majority three years old or more. It’s wonderfully perfumed and shows delicious blue fruits, lovely structure and elegance.
