Penfolds Grange 2005

Listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia, Penfolds Grange is arguably Australia’s most celebrated wine. Savour and celebrate its charms with this 2005 vintage described by Peter Gago, Penfolds chief winemaker as, "A small 2005 vintage Grange - understandably no quality compromise."
 
In the glass: Deep, dark garnet.
On the nose: Concentrated aromas of charcuterie, roasted meats and charry oak with complex touches of earth, forest floor and kitchen spice.
On the palate: Saturated with a myriad of dark plum, rhubarb and liquorice with muscular tannins and extract in equal measure. The fruit is rich enough to compliment the classy oak making for an intensely textured and concentrated wine.
The Grange style is the original and most powerful expression of Penfolds multi-vineyard, multi-district blending philosophy.
