Restaurants You Must Visit in Orange

The hub of the New South Wales Central West and about 254kms west of Sydney, Orange is a thriving regional city. The undulating hills that surround it are home to beautiful vineyards and wineries, plus farms that produce incredible fresh produce including apples, berries, truffles and grass-fed beef.

With access to such amazing fresh ingredients, there’s little wonder the dining and wine scene in Orange is setting such a high standard. To help you venture out and explore the region and all its deliciousness, here are some local restaurants you should check out.

CHARRED KITCHEN & BAR

Located in the heart of Orange, Charred serves serious food in a relaxed setting with a menu inspired by the team’s travels across the globe. Local produce forms the basis of the lunch tapas menu that expands at dinner with delectable dishes cooked on the custom-built “Lucifer” wood fire oven. This commissioned piece imparts unique flavours and goes a long way to explaining the “Charred” name.

The wine list showcases the best Orange has to offer and includes over 500 Australian wines in all, plus delicious offerings from international brands. Beer lovers will appreciate that Charred is just as serious about ale.

Dine with a date or celebrate as part of a group and let the award-winning team take care of your stomach.

Locals and visitors to the region can take their love for Groundstone to the next level with the café offering to cater your next birthday, corporate event or intimate wedding celebration.

RACINE RESTAURANT

Part of the picturesque La Colline Vineyard at the foothills of Mt Canobolas, Racine Restaurant is another must-do Orange regional dining experience.

Owners Shaun and Willa Arantz create beautiful food from ingredients sourced locally. “We want to give our guests an amazing experience, good food, good wine and good service that creates a ‘flavour of the region’ in a sophisticated way. We want them to feel like you're in our house.”

The menu is designed in a way that encourages diners to enjoy everything on offer – settle in for a lovely lunch, aperitivo hour at sunset on the terrace, or enjoy dinner in the restaurant. The wine list is predominantly filled with local regional drops with a great selection from almost every vineyard. There’s also a smaller range of Australian and international wines to complement the local selection.

If you’re visiting in the morning, the on-site bakery offers fresh coffee and a selection of perfect pastries and sourdoughs.
