In 1980, Geoff Hardy left the famil business to make his own name in the Australian wine industry. After starting up Pertaringa in McLaren Vale and K1 by Geoff Hardy in the Adelaide Hills, he established Hand Crafted by Geoff Hardy in 2005.
What's so special about "The Hand Crafted" wines?
"The Hand Crafted" wines are made from parcels of hand-selected, premium fruit from the family's vineyards around South Australia. The wines are expressions of a single vineyard or regional blends, and make up one of the broadest and most exciting ranges of alternate and emerging varieties in Australia.
Why should I visit the Hand Crafted cellar door?
The Hand Crafted by Geoff Hardy brand features one of Australia's widest ranges of new and emerging varieties such as Gruner Veltliner, Nero d'Avola, Montepulciano, Graciano, Teroldego and Lagrein. At our cellar door in Hahndorf, South Australia you can experience something out of the ordinary through sit-down, self paced tastings of either four or eight of these varieties. There is also a Chinese version of the same tasting mat to accommodate all the Chinese visitors in the area. A small tasting fee of $7 (four wines) and $10 (eight wines) is redeemable on purchase.
