The palate is showing ripe blackcurrant and plum fruit, dried herb and leaf notes, fine tannins and background vanillin oak. It’s concentrated, fresh and youthful with lovely long acid drive.
If the test criteria were power, fruit depth and polish, then the Gold medal-winning Heirloom Vineyards Shiraz 2017 would score 100%. One for big Shiraz-lovers, it’s powerful yet poised with full saturation of black and purple fruit, lovely peppery spice, deep yet fine tannins and well-judged savoury oak.
