In 1978, Rod and Sue Hourigan established the first winery at Redesdale, in the Heathcote region. Originally known as Romany Rye, it was renamed Eppalock Ridge due to nearby Lake Eppalock.
In the glass: Medium density red.
On the nose: Redcurrant, cherry, plum, earth and leather.
On the palate: Medium weight and spicy with a mix of red and black fruit, earth and leather aged complexity. Excellent example of an aged Shiraz with obvious savoury oak and a silky smoothness to the tannin structure – a benefit of enjoying several years in bottle.
