For wine lovers, there is no place closer to divinity than Bordeaux. Home to some of the most famous wine estates such as Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Margaux and Château Latour, this is where some of the world’s greatest (and most expensive) Cabernet Sauvignons are made. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec also call Bordeaux home, so a visit to these hallowed fields is akin to the ultimate vinous pilgrimage.

Spend an afternoon exploring Saint Émilion and enjoy a glass of bubbly at the underground cellars of Les Cordeliers. Sample world-class wines and enjoy a private dinner at World Heritage-listed Château de Ferrand and see how wooden wine barrels are constructed during a visit to one of the few remaining family-owned cooperages.
Delight in a tour and wine tasting at Château Giscours, a remarkable 19th-century Grand Cru Classé estate in the famous Margaux region. Travel to Sauternes to try the region’s famous dessert wine, delight in a tasting at a French cognac house and journey through the famous Médoc wine region.
There’s also plenty of history to enjoy, such as a visit to Château de Cazeneuve, once the home of King Henry IV of France. Discover the town of Blaye and take a walk around the 17th-century citadel, and in Saint-Émilion, head underground to a remarkable Monolithic Church.
