Established in 1866, Best's Great Western is one of the oldest and continuously family owned-and-operated wineries in Victoria’s Great Western region. For more than 150 years, Bests has been under the stewardship of just two families and it boasts a collection of Australia's oldest vineyards. The founding Best family established the original Concongella Vineyard and today, their vision lives on through the Thomson family, who purchased the property in 1920.
Best's Wines
Winemaker Justin Purser, and his team at Best's wines, produce world-class wines such as their flagship Thomson Family Shiraz, along with the award-winning Bin No. O Shiraz and Old Vine Pinot Meunier. These wines are only made in exceptional vintage years from the historic vineyards that date back to 1868. Premium expressions of Riesling, Chardonnay, Rosé and Pinot Noir are also included in their collecitons.
Best's Cellar Door
Situated between Stawell and Ararat, in the picturesque Grampians in the central Victorian countryside, Best's Wines cellar door lies in the historically rich wine-growing region of Great Western. Built in 1866, the cellar door is a historically significant location where visitors can not only enjoy a variety of different tasting experiences, but also take a tour of the 1860s cellars, which were hand dug by miners, and the original Nursery Block plantings, both of which represent a significant piece of Australian wine history.
