History of Campbells
The history of Campbells of Rutherglen goes back to 1870 and is a story of evolution, tenacity and determination, building on the experience of generations past with a dedication to innovation. From major adversities to marvellous success, Campbells of Rutherglen has forged a name deserving of a place in Australia’s great wine dynasties. While they have a history of making great Muscat and Topaques, for which the iconic Rutherglen region is rightfully world-renowned, Campbells’ table wines are also up there with the very best.
Today they represent five generations of winemaking knowledge and wisdom regarding the Rutherglen region, and over the years have pioneered new vineyard practices and winemaking techniques to ensure they produce the very best regional wines.
A fifth-generation family member, Julie Campbell is now winemaker and custodian of the iconic Campbells’ style, while her older sister Jane, is managing director, and oversees all elements of the winery and cellar door. Together they have a shared vision to champion the region by leading the way with producing outstanding wines, innovative and progressive winemaking practices along with an authentic winery and cellar door experience.
Campbells Wines
In addition to their Muscat and Topaques of Rutherglen stored at the winery in century-old giant casks in their cellars, they also produce premium Shiraz, Durif, Tempranillo, Roussanne and Viognier.
