Gapsted Wines was established in 1996 and is a sixth generation, Australian owned winery, located near Myrtleford, Victoria. It produces cool climate, high-quality wines from the Alpine and King Valleys regions.
Matt Fawcett, Gapsted Wines’ CEO and Chief Winemaker, says of the history of the winery. “We’re perceived as a larger wine company, but we are a family business,” he says of the founding families, most of whom are still involved with the winery, “and those family values always drive how we go forward.”
Gapsted Wines
Gapsted Wines make around 80 different wines over five labels: Tobacco Road, High Country, Ballerina Canopy, Hidden Story, and Limited Release. They produce a large range of distinctive wines from the mainstream to the emerging grape varieties. The Italian community in the region has had a significant influence on the grapes grown, leading the Australian wine industry in the development of wine styles such as Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Fiano and Barbera.
