Purchased in 2007 by the Schiavello family the property formally known as Nar Darak was first planted in 1987 through to 1996. The Schiavello family continues a tradition of wine making emanating from the hills of the South of Italy. The name Gioiello Estate recognises past generations of the Schiavello family who worked a property named Gioiello, or the Jewel in Italian, perched above a hillside town named Sorianello, in Calabria, Italy.
This Southern Italian farm grew grapes and olives and produced wine and olive oil for local consumption. Now here in the Upper Goulburn region of Victoria the Italian family story continues, growing grapes for high quality single estate wines.
Why does Gioiello Estate have three different Chardonnay labels?
We have four blocks planted to Chardonnay on the property and they each have different characteristics. We like to keep three of these separate if the season and quality permits.
What varieties are currently available?
Gioiello Estate currently has Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz on offer.
