The Rymill family’s path was forged over 120 years ago when John Riddoch founded Coonawarra in 1890. Five generations on, John Rymill follows in his great-great grandfather’s footsteps proudly producing wines at our family owned winery, Rymill Coonawarra. The Rymill Coonawarra philosophy is to make wines of finesse, power and balance from only our estate grown and sustainably produced fruit. Our wines embody the hard work and care taken in the vineyards to protect the vines and produce healthy and robust grapes.

The Rymill Coonawarra philosophy is to make wines of finesse, power and balance from only our estate grown fruit. We know a truly great wine embodies the hard work and care taken in the vineyards to protect the vines and produce healthy and robust grapes. Rymill Coonawarra was proudly the first family owned wine business in the region to boast Freshcare and Entwine accreditation. These organisations provide the industry’s formal environmental certification recognising our commitment to sustainable practices in our vineyard and winery according to strict international standards.
What is unique about your cellar door in Coonawarra?
Our friendly cellar door staff pour our estate-grown wines whilst you take yourself on a self-guided tour of the winery. We have viewing platforms that overlook the vineyards and working winery. During vintage you can literally see and smell all of the action! Once you've experienced the Rymill Coonawarra winery, you can enjoy a build-your-own produce platter and enjoy it in the cosy cellar door or on a picnic rug amongst the vineyards.

Our winemaker, Sandrine Gimon, is from Ardeche in France and completed her internship at Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin in Champagne. Luckily, we have traditional champagne varieties, so she can use her skills with our traditional method Coonawarra Brut.
