Cowra is part of the New South Wales Central Ranges along with Mudgee and Orange. Set among the high western slopes of the Lachlan Valley, 314km south-west of Sydney, it’s 300-400 metres above sea level.
Hot days provide good ripening conditions, while chilly nights serve to retain fruit acidity, resulting in wines of intense flavour. While Cowra Chardonnay has put this wine region on the map, the area also produces other complex and flavoursome varietals such as Verdelho and Shiraz.
