Although it has only been established for just a decade, South Burnett is Queensland’s second largest wine region. There are over a dozen wineries where the grapes are grown on a range of soils. Verdelho is emerging as the white variety that is most impressive, with crisp dry flavours, though many of the whites personify the tropical weather showing characters of tropical fruit, mango, passionfruit and banana.
The Shiraz of the region is renowned for its peppery and blackberry flavours.
