Like the neighbouring regions of Coonawarrra, Padthaway and Mount Benson, Wrattonbully is part of the Limestone Coast so possesses the highly prized terra rossa soils. Much of the fruit produced in Wrattonbully is supplied in bulk to wineries in other regions. There are now, however, an increasing number of independent wineries setting up in Wrattonbully and the quality of their reds especially is rivalling those of the more famous Coonawarra.
