Gippsland is a large area that extends from the NSW/ Victorian border to just beneath Melbourne, it is a region of contrasts with picturesque coastlines and the drama of the Great Dividing Range. There were many vines planted in Gippsland in the 19th century however production ceased before the greatwar and the region did not resurrect until the 1970s. Theoretically, Gippsland is a zone broken up into three separate regions of varying soil type and topography, they are: East Gippsland, South Gippsland and Gippsland West.
The region is punctuated by many small family owned and boutique wineries, the most popular grape styles being: Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Pinot Noir.
