As the man behind this wine, Steve Wiblin, points out, the Clare Valley originally built its reputation on its stellar reds, including Cabernet, which was often blended with Malbec.
In the winery: This wine is a blend of 85% Cabernet and 15% Malbec, with both parcels kept separate in French oak until final blend selection after 22 months maturation.
In the glass: Deep red.
On the nose: Blackberry, mulberry, bay leaf and vanillin oak.
On the palate: Powerful yet poised with saturated black fruits, well-judged supporting oak, fine and persistent tannin drive and balancing acidity. Delicious.
