A gorgeous Gamay
Driven by terroir
Named after the town of Aylesbury from which its owners, the Gibbs family, hail, Aylesbury Estate in Western Australia’s Ferguson Valley was planted with vines in 1998. The winemaking aim is to capture the best of the region in a bottle, “producing wines that are an expression of the pristine environment in which the fruit is grown.”
QO5 Gamay 2019
The Gibbs’ forefathers were pioneers who immigrated from England to the Ferguson Valley in 1883. At that time, they were issued with a ‘brand’ to earmark and identify their livestock. The family’s brand was ‘QO5’ and this has become a unique symbol of their heritage and quality. The 2019 Gamay is bright red with purple hues. A lifted bouquet of rose petal and cherry leads to a fresh, lively medium-bodied palate with flavours of raspberry and cherry pip and soft, balanced tannins.
Winemaking
After picking, grapes were crushed and destemmed to fermenters. After a quick seven day ferment, and gentle press, the wine matured in seasoned oak for four months before bottling.
+ FOOD
This medium-bodied red is perfect with light chicken dishes, salads, cheeses and charcuterie.
