Hailing from Portugal and Sicily, Verdelho came to Australia in the 1820s. A crisp, approachable white wine, it now has a steady following, which is not surprising given that its fresh and clean nature lends itself to our food and culture. Margaret River and the Hunter Valley are the popular front runners of this variety, and produce clean, dry and tropical wines designed for early drinking. Margaret River expressions have attractive tropical fruit characters with a fleshy, medium to full-bodied palate and a dry, zesty finish. In the Hunter Valley, the grape’s inherent acidity produces a palate with sweeter fruit, a glosser mouthfeel and a zesty finish. Enjoy Wine Selectors excellent range of Verdelho wine from wine regions right across the country. Check out Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling for an alternative white wine variety.
