Viognier, a white wine variety distinguished by stone fruit, predominantly apricot, followed by perfumed florals and spicy tones, can be made in an elegant, fragrant style or a luscious, full-bodied white wine. It is best suited to warmer climates such as the Hunter Valley and Barossa Valley as Viognier tends to develop optimum aromas and flavours at ripeness. However, our cooler climates such as Yarra Valley and Eden Valley produce elegant wines with light aromatics and subtle fruit aromas. While its aromas can be delicate and floral, the palate is weighty, rich and round.
