From humble beginnings in the mid 1800s, the Hunter Valley has grown to include over 130 wineries. The region encompasses the Upper Hunter and the Lower Hunter, with each offering its own amazing wine experience.
The Lower Hunter covers the sub-regions of Pokolbin, Broke Fordwich, Lovedale and Mount View. The area is home to some of Australia’s most famous winemaking families including Lindemans, Drayton’s and Tyrrell’s. You’ll find the wineries of the Upper Hunter around the towns of Muswellbrook, Denman and Scone. It was Penfolds (later selling to Rosemount), who really put this area on the map in the 1980s, but boutique producers have helped build a reputation for quality.
